פִּי׳
פִּקְטִים, פִּקְטִין, פִּי׳m. pl. (פקט to burst forth, ferment) froth, foam (of wine or oil). B. Mets.40b לוקח … שמרים בלא פ׳ a purchaser of oil must accept a Log and a half of lees (to the barrel), but no froth. Ib. אחד הלוקח ואחד המפקיד לפ׳ the laws concerning foam are the same for the purchaser as for the depositor. Sifré Deut. 324 (ref. to Is. 25:6) שמרים שאין בהם כלום דבר אלא פ׳ in which there is nothing but froth (foul matter). Esth. R. to I, 3 שמא יתנו שמן פ׳וכ׳ lest they put frothy (rancid) oil in the lamps, opp. פטים.
